Remarks & Notes
MSSAL rolls east through Hersey with a venerable trio of 3-window SD60Ms leading the way. This train departed the Belt Yard at midnight, but it soon lost its second unit (the one in new paint) and stalled on the BNSF's mainline. The train was completely blocking the Midway Sub, and main 2 on the Saint Paul Sub so trains started to stack up in both directions. CP 381 happened to be behind them, and ended up pushing them all the way up to East St. Paul so that the train would at least be off of BNSF property. By this time, SSAL's crew was close to dying on their hours of service and the train ended up being tied down. A recrew was called for 03:15, but they weren't on board and ready to depart East St. Paul until 05:45. However, the train still didn't have enough power to make the hill out of Hudson so the crew was instructed to pick up a trio of units in Bayport that had brought in a coal train on the previous day. They were finally ready to depart Bayport at 09:45, and luckily it was a trouble free trip from there.
