| A 23 year old GE Dash9 standard cab locomotive is the leader of ballast train NS 96A which tonight finds itself tied down on the Royal City siding track. Seeing standard cab units on the NS system is getting tougher these days as that railroad rebuilds these older units and replaces their original cabs with newer and safer wide-nosed versions. This particular model as of this writing has already been rebuilt with a new cab and is now known as NS 4092, so standing out in the very chilly January air that evening was well worth it to capture a night exposure of this now extinct model. |
