Remarks & Notes
Loaded coal train NS 810 crests the nearly 1% grade climbing out of the Guyandotte River Valley and through Staggerweed Tunnel on the Gilbert Branch, and is now beginning to head downhill towards the Pocahontas District mainline at Wharncliffe in rural Mingo County. At Wharncliffe, the pusher will cut off and return to Gilbert to bring another loaded train over the hill, while NS 810 will head towards Davy to receive a second pusher for the climb up Elkhorn Grade and on to Bluefield.
