The first light of day breaks over the Blue Ridge Grade as a westbound intermodal takes a clear signal from the classic N&W intermediates that have watched this historic piece of railroad tucked away in the Virginia hills for over half a century, but have since fallen to new technology and suffered the fate of the scrap shredder.
