Remarks & Notes
Northbound Delaware & Hudson tonnage snakes through the wye at Bridge 60 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. The train, which has just departed Taylor Yard, is bound for Binghamton via the newly-acquired DL&W main line. For a short time, Conrail had several GP39-2’s from the D&H and the D&H had a similar number of Conrail B23-7’s, one of which is third in this consist. It’s possible that this was a mutual evaluation of late-model 2300 horsepower units not on each other’s roster.
