The four-track mainline over Logan Hill in Wyoming’s Powder River Basin can still be very busy at times. On the morning of June 23, 2018, five trains can be seen between the top of the hill and Bill to the south. On Track 1 is a southbound BNSF coal load. Coming up alongside on Track 2 is a Union Pacific coal empty headed north to load at one of the many mines. Just visible and about to disappear down the grade is the DPU of a UP coal train on Track 3. Cruising by on Track 4 is a loaded UP coal train speeding up after cresting the hill. In the background is another UP coal empty that is following the UP train on Track 2.
