At first, I put "Amtrak" into the locomotive portion of the photo details. I guess I'm just not used to these being on Metra yet! Metra #84, still wearing Surfliner paint, is a long way off from hauling trains through sunny California, but it seems to be adapting to its new home of Chicagoland. In sweet evening light, it's seen shoving inbound train #2244 through Franklin Park, approaching the Milwaukee Road signal bridge at Edgington.
Some of the best passenger locomotives that EMD ever made (aside from the F40PH). With all Amtrak F59s gone from the Surfline, the only place that they can be seen is with Caltrans (Amtrak California).
Not
just heritage schemes, not just commemorative schemes - this album is devoted to some of the world's most interesting paint schemes, past or present.
