On the occasion of the open doors day, the new rolling stock maintenance hall could be visited. Over the past two years, three new 150 metre long inspection tracks have been built on the site of the SBB Olten plant, which will be used to efficiently repair and maintain the 375 regional service vehicles. Among other things, new crane systems were installed on an area of 5000 square metres and the building shell renewed. The heart of the new hall is the new underfloor lifting unit, which is a novelty for SBB: it can lift a 150 metre long, 300 ton train up to two metres for overhaul work. The SBB invested 37 million Swiss francs in this new maintenance hall. Here we can see the 6 car doubledeck train RABe 511 # 030, lifted with the new device. On the right is Bombardier "FV-Dosto" RABe 502 # 404 (IR100 version).
