Remarks & Notes
The locomotives, known as "crocodiles" because of their special shape, are 100 years old this year. For example the brown locomotive Ce 6/8 II # 14253 of SBB Historic, which is based in Erstfeld, carries the factory name plates with year of construction 1919. A few years later a further developed form of these locomotives was built, which are marked with an index III, and which have a Winterthur diagonal rod drive instead of the earlier rod drive with a blind shaft. The Ce 6/8 III # 14305 from SBB Historic, which was built in 1926 and is based in Olten, belongs to this type. In this photo, taken at Arth Goldau, you can see that the front stem has a slightly different shade of green than the middle part and the other stem. On the occasion of the chassis revision 2016/2017 in Meiningen/Germany this stem was repainted. In the background you can see the high platform of the Arth-Rigi-Bahn (now part of the Rigi Bahnen RB), opened in 1897 and under monumental protection, which was raised 70 centimeter, renovated and redesigned between 2010 and 2017. The tracks of the Rigi cogwheel Railway now begin on the left outside the historic station hall, which now serves as a waiting and sales area.
