On this May morning a thick fog hung over the James River while everywhere else the morning was beautiful. Amtrak 20, the NB Crescent, cuts through the fog like a knife as it heads out of Lynchburg and into Amherst County, towards Washington DC on the ex-Southern Railway mainline.
