Remarks & Notes
Quite possibly falling into the top ten sunsets that I have ever seen, a string of midwestern supercells loom over the old Naperville, CB&Q depot. Being out later on a Wednesday afternoon, although not seen in the photo, people gathered at the Naperville Metra train station to lay eyes on the BNSF OCS. Little did we know the crew of such train had fallen through, and the train ended up being an early morning run. While others left, most of us stayed to get storm pictures with the oncoming BNSF and Metra traffic. Little would we all know these storms ended up becoming more spectacular than a string of vintage rail cars behind a GEVo. 4 storms rolled over us that afternoon, and the final one seen in the image above, ended up being the most photogenic of them all. In the end three of the 4 storms became tornado warned almost minutes after they had passed over us, and all of the 4 storms popped up within 50 miles of where we were set up.

Good Light, Good Scenery, and a Train

Album created by member Lee Kirchhoff

Landscape photography is difficult due to the challenge of combining good light and good scenery. Good railroad photography enters another level of complexity since it requires the first two while there is a train in view.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
