Remarks & Notes
Many people are surprised to find that much of the New York City subway system is above ground. On July 20, 2018, a New York MTA 6 Avenue Local train approaches the Smith-9 Streets station, a local station on the IND Culver Line. Not only is this station in Brooklyn above ground, but it also has the distinction of being the highest elevation on the entire New York subway. In fact, at 87.5 feet (26.7 m) above ground level, it the highest rapid transit station in the world. This elevation provides a spectacular view of the Manhattan skyline, particularly in the evening.

A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
