The Alleghenies’ fall colors are still a few weeks off as a Norfolk Southern intermodal train crosses the mountains on September 18, 2019. This westbound, led by Dash 9-44CWs 9205 and 9319, is about to round the last curve into Cresson, Pennsylvania, on NS’s Pittsburgh Line. (In case you’re wondering, the first two top-loaded containers are flat rack containers, similar to flat cars.)
