Union Pacific “Big Boy” 4014 heads to the railroad’s yard in Yermo, California, on October 12, 2019. The 23-car train is now devoid of passengers, carrying only the crew, having unloaded them in Barstow. The 4-8-8-4 is backing its train onto the UP’s California Sub (and off the BNSF’s Needles Sub) and will arrive at Yermo Yard in about three miles.
