The Last Battle. Norfolk Southern Corp 5832 (GP38-3) leads a local job past the National Park administered site at Chalmette Battlefield on the morning of Friday, December 13, 2019. This battle took place on January 8, 1815, after the US and Britain had signed the Treaty of Ghent to end the War of 1812 on December 24, 1814, but before the word had traveled back across the Atlantic Ocean. Brevet Major General Andrew Jackson lead U.S. forces to a resounding victory.
