I was treated to a nice surprise while shooting NS after getting CSX Q211 & K447 in Atlanta near Howell Junction. Unknown to me, NS 119 had NS 8099, the Southern Railway heritage unit, on the point, so when it came off of the Piedmont Division at Howell & around the corner in the distance, I was put in a good mood upon identifying the lead unit (only took a second even at 1/2 mile away & in the shadows due to it clearly not being the traditional B&W paint scheme). This shot reminds me that it still pays to sometimes be surprised in an era where it’s pretty hard to be due to the internet making it pretty easy to track certain movements.
