Remarks & Notes
Cleaning switches. With the mid-day temperature hovering around 15F, Fireman Gordon Cook hands the switch broom down to Trainman Dan Malkowski as the crew prepares to take their Sandy River & Rangeley Lakes Passenger Train out of a passing siding and onto the main line. With over 6" of freshly fallen snow, the switch just ahead of them will need to be thoroughly swept out to ensure safe operation and to prevent the snow from turning to ice and freezing the mechanism in the coming days.
