Remarks & Notes
An electric locomotive shoves a passenger train across a bridge. Below the bridge in the waters of Parkers Creek paddles a lone bird, a swan (waterfowl). This is the sight of an 1882 train crash where several cars of the NY&LB's Lightning Express derailed and plunged off a trestle into these shallow waters. Several wooden pilings are visible below the bridge and may be the remains of the original trestle that spanned this creek. Ex-president Ulysses S. Grant was one of the passengers on the train, but was not injured in the crash.
