| "Northern Explorer" emerges from Tawa 1 tunnel to make a scenic entrance to the capital near the end of the 680Km/ 420 mile journey from Auckland. The DFB class was bult by EMD Canada in 1979. The train, built by Hillside Engineering entered service in 2012. Virtually identical trains run in the South Island but all the Scenic Journeys trains are currently cancelled due to lock down. |
