Mid track at Mid Grade. For many, the reality of Norfolk Southern removing the former Pennsylvania Railroad signals on its Harrisburg and Pittsburgh Divisions really hit home on Sunday, May 5, 2019. In the overnight hours in a driving rain, NS workers and contractors removed the signal bridges from both ends. During World War II, a massive increase in freight traffic caused the PRR to reconfigure the access to Horseshoe Curve with an interlocking and tower called MG. The tower has since closed but still stands.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
