The hot westbound afternoon "Bird" rolls into Clinton and is a 1 mile from the crew change. This train is the Global 1 in Chicago, IL, to Brooklyn Yard in Portland, OR. The train is seen here passing the old CN&W depot here at 5th Street. In 2017 the UP bought this property in preparation for a new bridge that will be built someday. The Union Pacific plans to build a $400 million clear span bridge over the Mississippi River to replace the swing span bridge built in 1909. No idea where plans are at now. Just glad I got the depot, cause I am sure keeping it isn't in the plans.
