Remarks & Notes
An eastbound Amtrak Keystone led by a cab car rounds the bend in Gap, Pennsylvania. Gap is located a few miles east of the historic Strasburg Rail Road and once had its own station. It is located pretty much midway between Parksburg, PA, to the east, and Lancaster, PA to the west - the longest stretch between stations along the Keystone Corridor (former PRR) now served by Amtrak. The overhead catenary was rehabilitated in 2006 on November 1st, of that same year, the track from Lancaster to Parkesburg was upgraded with some segments now rated for 110 mile per hour operation. An interesting juxtaposition, high speed trains racing through the bucolic farmlands of the Amish.
