Remarks & Notes |
This Utah Ry. MK5000C is one of only a small handful of this unique model running anywhere. As far as I know all of the operational ones were in use on the Utah Ry. when I took this shot. I saw these units so often when I lived in Utah that they became common to me. The UTAH 5005 is sporting a new paint job since Genesee & Wyoming took over the Utah Ry. Although this bright orange job is OK, I greatly prefer the old grey and red scheme. That brick engine house was built in 1922 and once stabled 2-8-0, 2-10-2, and 2-8-8-0 steamers as well as ALCO RSD 4’s. I have been in the engine house many times and there are ghosts everywhere. The 5005 is now running on another G&W property; the Kyle RR in Colorado and Kansas. |
