Awaiting their fate at CSX's Huntington locomotive shops, 41-year-oold former L&N SD40-2 No. 8112, now CSXT No. 8112 sits coupled in front of the 54-year-old former C&O SD40 No. 7475, now CSXT No. 8426. SD40-2s are still in mainline service for CSX today, but in declining numbers. An assortment of them gathered at the Huntington shops is not uncommon, especially over a decade ago when the in-house EMD rebuild program resulted in the Dash-3 variations.
