Helm Leasing Corp. (HLCX) EMD GP38-2 No. 3849 in in the middle of getting a power assembly replaced at Union Pacific’s Kansas City Locomotive Facility on October 22, 2013. The old faulty assembly has been removed, but it takes some effort and skill to fish out any remnants of broken parts, and lining up everything correctly so the new power assembly can be properly installed. In this view, two machinists get the job done, with the guy on the right having the messier tasks to do at the bottom of the engine.
