Charger Crossing The C&O Canal. MARC Train 881 (MARC 85, Siemens SC-44 leading) enjoys one of the longest light days of the year as it crosses C&O Canal Lock 33 and the Potomac River from Knoxville, Maryland to Harpers Ferry, West Virginia at just before 8:00 PM on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. The bridge in the background carries the CSX Shenandoah Sub, and behind it is the junction of the Potomac and Shenandoah Rivers.
From B&O RDCs to MARC bilevel coaches pulled by electric locomotives and diesels, the Maryland commuting scene has evolved, while trolleys, aka light rail vehicles, are back.
A continuously growing album of photos that IMHO reveal the awesome and seldom-seen beauty of the railroad world from the dimming of day to dawn's early light! From dusk to dawn, trains roll on! (I'm still finding gems of sunset-to-sunrise surprises!)
