Aluminum rough car body (bodyshell) # 614 (end car) for one of the 19 7-car double-deck EMUs ordered for CalTrain in California. The 27-meter-long body, welded at Stadler Rheintal's Altenrhein plant, was transported to the St. Margrethen plant on transport bogies, where it will be further machined and painted and then transported by road, Rhine barge and ocean transport to Houston and from there by rail to the Stadler plant in Salt Lake City for assembly and equipping. Each car has 4 doors on both sides, which are at different heights to be able to stop at high or low platforms. CalTrain ordered 19 of this trains for 25000 V 50 AC and 177 km/h (110 mph) velocity. At the moment, about 100 of a total of 133 required car bodies (19 trains of 7 cars each) have been built. The begin of operation is postponed to 2024 now due to delays in the expansion of infrastructure. Diesel vehicle Tm 232 # 003 of StadlerRail is shoving the large bodyshell into the halls of StadlerRails's St.Margrethen plant.
