Remarks & Notes
I always wanted to photograph one of these F40M-2s as soon as I saw photos of one as they were delivered to the Canadian American Railroad, an Iron Roads shortline whose hard luck story was just a step above Iowa Pacific (basically just take away the passenger trains and vintage equipment). Iron Roads was bankrupt and gone before I could get a photo of one of these units, but fate would have it that I would come across one in Colorado. The crews weren't big fans of these. When I expressed my like for them to the GM, he replied "We'll send you home with a couple."

A compilation of DRGW's La Veta Pass route to the San Luis Valley now operated by the SLRG. With Rio Grande Scenic passenger operations coming to a close in 2019, the Alamosa sub is once again freight-only, as reflected here.
