One of the trainsets used for Amtrak’s Regional Springfield Shuttles lays over for the night. In the morning, P42DC 108, coach 82526 and cab car 9644 will head south to New Haven, Connecticut, and passengers can then transfer to trains heading with to Boston or New York and Washington DC on the Northeast Corridor. Once treated like a backwater with decrepit locomotives, cars and track, Massachusetts has become a star in the Amtrak constellation with electrification to Boston, service to Maine and an upgraded Connecticut Valley line.
