The layover in Fairbury, NE, for the 4014 helped us do 2 days of the Big Boy without traveling too far. The only shot we did the 2nd day was here near Hanover. The train laid over at Fairbury on the Hallan Sub, and went from Fairbury to KC on Monday the 9th. We had hope for the train to crossed over to main #2 by the time they got here, but this worked as smoke begins to pour out as the steamer climbs the only grade on the Marysville Sub. Eastbounds work hard for a couple miles to climb out of the Little Blue River Valley not too far from Marysville.
