Gaudet, I thought the Caso Sub was abandoned by CN and CSX due to the Welland Canal Project in the late 1970's. They must have not got too far on that line. Great Pic!

No, the CASO survived after the welland canal relocation project in the early 1970's.. the line saw through freights until april 1996 when CSX stopped using the CASO and began haulage rights agreement with CN instead. The line from St Thomas to Buffalo was ripped up in 2002, the line west of St Thomas is slated for abandonment, and a portion of the line near Windsor (Detroit) is still intact and sees a couple freights/day. This little engine still has track, and will be taking a 120 mile round trip on the CASO this summer.
