Why does BNSF need additional SD40-2s if they inherited several through BN?

i dont know for sure, but maybe that CN unit was in either BN or ATSF hands so BNSF got it when the merge happened.

Alsthom rebuilt CN SD40s to SD40-2s in 1999 and painted them into H1.None were inherited from BN or ATSF.
