You mean to tell me there may be a bit of red LV paint under the black somewhere? Amazing. I didn't know there were any ex- Lehigh Valley anythings still in regular service by 2005. Is it still in servcie today? Thanks for sharing.

When I wrote that first comment in 2005, three of the four LV GP38AC's on NS were out of service, and it was believed they were going to remain OOS permanently..which is why I said "only one" LV locomotive on NS at that time..but that was premature! :) It turned out that all four of the LV GP38AC's on NS were rebuilt! and are now classed as GP38-2's by NS, they are now NS 5655, 5516, 5627 and 5659. There are currently (in 2014) a total of fourteen LV locomotives still in Class-1 service, the four LV GP38AC's with NS (now classed as GP38-2's) and ten of the twelve LV GP38-2's are still operating with Canadian Pacific. (two were scrapped due to wrecks)..LV survivors: http://www.frontiernet.net/~scottychaos/LVRR_locomotives.html
