That is unreal. Look at photo# 116835 taken in 1997 from almost the same spot. the building on the far shore is the same.

I'm curious about how this bridge was put together - did they fasten the trestle segments to the supports, or did they just fit into slots and kept in place by gravity and a connection to the adjacent sections? Looking at how almost every section is gone, and how the piers look relatively undamaged, I would suspect the latter. Even so, would it have mattered if they were secured somehow?

Man CSX has issues. NS rebuilt their huge bridge over Ponchartrian in likea week and a half. A month later and it doesn't look like CSX has touched this.

Chris: Can you tell me if the old station at Ocean Springs was damaged or not? I have a 16 X 20 of an Operation Lifesaver train taken there around 1984 with my Mamiya 645. Thanks.
