Back when I worked as a Roadmaster on the C&O the track inspection train would come through about once a year. There are four rows of 4 seats in the back of this car arranged theatre style (each row slighty higher that the one in front of it). In the track geometry car, the bottom row is replaced with four swivel chairs surrounding a console with displays of the information from the measurement equipment (one of the chairs was called the "hot seat" - mine). Imagine the headache after watching the ties go by in the roadbed, backwards, for 8 hours. Whenever the train stopped it seemed as if the roadbed was still moving under me.
