It`s always refreshing to see locomotives unpatched. Even when the time comes for a patch or repaint,as long as she`s still in service both pictures will be sweet. However not as sweet as the original. Thanks for capturing and sharing this very nice image.

Great picture, I'm guessing that there are not too many Rio Grande paint schemes left, for an original, it's still a beauty!!

31 years ago both my dad and I were working at the EMD factory, at that time I was a welder fitter assembling snow plow pilots and cab roofs for these locomotives. What a place to work, made terrific money bought a brand new house at age 24.

Congratulations James on an excellent photo and side profile of a rare unpatched DRG&W SD40T-2. Although I live in Australia I know these units are becoming a rarity. Take a close look at the scorched paint below the dynamic grids something I have often noticed on Rio Grande units. These tunnel motors sure have had a hard life over their 30+ year life. You have to give credit to EMD and the diesel maintainers who keep these units running. I will be saving this one in the favorites for sure. Thanks James and RailPictures.Net
