What is NS going to use these units for? I assume the OCS train.

Whatever NS is going to do with these units will definitely be better than CSX using F40PH's. Would be nice to see them repaint in historical Southern Green/White or later era Black/White tuxedo styles.

NS, more than likely, is going to do nothing. They are probably enroute to the Juniata shops for overhaul. They did not want the E-8's they inherited when Conrail broke up if you remember. I would love to run some old covered wagons, but only in a slow speed excursion environment. CSX made a good choice on the f40's as far as reliability and parts availibility is concerned. We, I'm sure, have far more spare 645 parts laying around than we have 567 parts. They maybe ho-hum from your point of view, but given a choice, I'll take an f40 over a first generation locomotive any day and twice on sunday.

I have heard that they will be used for corporate stuff. Wheeling and dealing engines.
