The good ole days.

My mouth just popped open when I saw this photo... this one has to be one of my all-time favorites on the entire site (is now proudly serving as my desktop!). Incidentally, the only engine of the three still in any condition to run is the 76. The Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, MI, hopes to have her under steam again soon.

Wild catch - for those curious, 2-8-0 #38 (center) was built for the Huntingdon & Broad Top Mountain Railroad & Coal Company and operated at the Gettysburg Scenic before finding its way to the Knox & Kane, and now, pending restoration, at the Everett Railroad. 2-8-0 #76, far left, also operated, obviously, at the Gettysburg Railroad and is now pending restoration to operation at the Steam Railroading Institute in Owosso, MI - home to the PM #1225. Neither to be confused with CPR 4-6-2 #1278 which on June 16, 1995, suffered from the notorious explosion in the firebox. That engine is now at the Age of Steam Roundhouse. RDG #2101, now returned to it's American Freedom Train livery sits on display outdoors at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore.
