I am absolutely fascinated by railroad operations in city streets. We had quite a bit for a good number of years here in St. Louis by the Manufacturer's Rail System owned by Anheuser Busch. Much of this was for industries located along the line adjacent to the Mississippi River within sight of the famous Gateway Arch running for about two miles down the brewery complex. All of these companies are basically gone. Besides this the South Shore line in Michigan City, Indiana has probably the most famous mainline in America where its many, many electric passenger trains are supplemented by several freight trains running between the Shops on the east side of town and the west heading towards Chicago. I would like permission to use your photo of the Geep on Monroe Street on the cover of my monthly newsletter WHISTLE TALK, which is the "organ" of the St. Louis Railway Enthusiasts. If you can send me a postal address I could forward several issues to you. David J. Neubauer 1569 Ville Angela Lane, Hazelwood, MO 63042-1630.....it1569djn@earthlink.net..........................djn
