That's how you water a diesel locomotive... yikes!

OOPS!! Did the crew escape?

Crew escaped unharmed. 2nd engine involved was CSXT 295 "Spirit of The Clinchfield".
Unique angle there, Jim!
Yes, the crew did escape. They put the train into emergency and jumped off shortly before impact (with a bolder) from what I'm told.
I think he turned the wrong way :0. But seriously the crew escaped uninjured but they were shaken up, another engine along with 11 cars were involved in the wreck which was caused by a rock the size of a school bus.

Actually the crew rode the loco all the way down the embankment. No injuries, just dirty underwear!
Great Catch! I live about an hour from this site and read and watched the news about it.

GREAT shot JB! Now we can see a little of what we need to order to get to work on 4814.... see 'em in Huntington!
Reminds me of a line from the movie 'Risky Business', "Who's the U-Boat commander?".
Wow! I'm glad the crew wasn't injured.
Holy Cow! I gave you a PC vote on this. I just love the people who take the time to go out & shoot what I call "news" style shots. Really nice work Jim.
Great to see your work again...
Man, glad the crew escaped uninjured in this watery situation. Great shot though James.

A classic example of what happens when an irresistable force meets an immovable object.......
Someone gets to go fishin'
Best part is that the crew are OK. They'll be talking about this one for years!
As Homer Simpson would say, D'oh!

Hey do you mind if I have a drink of water then we can continue

A rare derailment where the crew keeps their jobs.
