Although Mr. Hamlin does not point it out, all the cars in this train are former-Great Northern lightweight coaches, which NJDOT ran in their original colors and markings for years. The three types acquired were 60-seat, 48-seat and former UP 44-seat cars, but all were retrofit with a greater number of short-haul seats of a more basic nature. Some of the orange and green cars still carried Empire Builder on the letterboards!

Thanks J.C. for the additional information. I recall hearing local area fans refer to this equipment as "gin/bin trains", and on at least one occasion, as the "Bay Head Builder", a reference to the cars still lettered for the GN "Empire Builder".
