Assuming this is CTC territory, there isn't technically any "wrong side;" running "wrong main" is typically a reference to Double Track/ABS territory, where each track is signaled for movement in one direction only, in which case movement "against the current of traffic," i.e., "wrong main," would require dispatcher permission and be subject to speed restrictions (49mph freight/59mph passenger maximum by federal law for "unsignaled" track, since it IS "unsignaled" in the direction of movement in that case).
