Love that line of cabooses in red. Santa Fe had a unique numbering system for their hacks. Long number on sides and short three digit code atop the cupola. I suppose for easy spotting in the yard.

Not to mention about 40 cabooses! Another terrific photo, Steve.

Love that long line of cabooses. Also, I think that's the only Santa Fe tank car I've ever seen.

A great shot, look at all those pretty, red cabooses!! I was 12 when that photo was taken, some good memories, thanks! They still use that numbering on their cabooses (called shoving platforms now, but they'll ALWAYS be cabooses to me!), I don't think they have any standard cupola cabooses anymore though, the only ones I see are extended vision center cupola. Oh, Norfolk Southern uses a similar numbering scheme on theirs, but instead of just putting the last 3 numbers on the cupola, they put 555XXX, NS still uses a good number of cabooses.
