A little bondo and she'll look as good as new!

What really interested me about this study, was the nose door-headlight, which is standard EMD-issue. The Santa Fe generally applied their own design of second headlight to EMD cabs, with a housing larger in diameter. To my knowledge, no AT&SF E or F unit ever came out of La Grange equipped with a nose-door headlight, as the railroad applied them upon delivery. However, the Alco-GE PAs, and Fairbanks Morse Erie-builts, did have factory-installed second headlights. Santa Fe's earlier passenger units, the E1s, the E3, E6s and the lone Alco-GE DL109 were delivered well before the lower headlight was in vogue, but except for most of the E1s, all got them retroactively. By the way, the 300L is the class unit of the dual-service F7 class. Thanks Craig.
