US 131 was opened here in 1962. Today, Amtrak owns this trackage below, they cut it back to single track here in the 70s all the way to Porter, IN. In the modern era the single track is a passenger raceway heading west from here to 110 mph territory, not everything in railroading ETTS-es. This appears to be the same train your Dad shot at the depot and at BO tower, if so he was applying 60's railfanning expertise knowing he could get the train in three set-ups! Way to go Dad!

The February 1968 Official Guide shows 354 departing Kalamazoo at 12:40PM. The angle of the sun is about right to be 354.
