That is a very rare unit indeed, I believe the L&N only purchased just one of these units from EMD. It is a good catch and great to see a photo of it while still in service for the L&N.

Please see my comment at photo 229005, there were four of these. In this good photo of the long end of these units please note that there is a radio transmitter on top of the extra compartment behind the radiators. Also note that there is a normal communication radio antenna on top of the control cab. These units were part of an L & N experiment !
