In her later years, my Grandmother used to like to get on a train and just "go somewhere". "Somewhere" was often Milwaukee, and as a youngster growing up in the 50s and 60s in the western 'burbs of Chicago, I was lucky as she often liked to drag her grandsons along for the ride. Milwaukee with her meant either the C&NW, or the North Shore (after a ride to downtown on the CB&Q), and even included an overnight or two at the Hotel Schroeder. Thank you, thank you, thank you for these great images and the memories they evoke. Keep 'em coming!
