People just don't get it.... "If I only had a brain........"

People really don't get it, trains can not "chicken out" they will win every time.

That's exactly why railroads get nervous about rail-fans...Knuckle-Heads like this!

So you take a picture of him doing this instead of stopping it?

I was about two hundred yards from the guy and the train was about one hundred yards from him. I made a point in my remarks to say the man stepped safely off the tracks. If he had not you would'nt be seeing this picture here!

Not only is this guy lucky that the train did'nt hit him, he's also lucky he did'nt meet an NS special agent, as NS is very strict about tresspassing on their property.

Another stunning picture David. Im sure the 400mm telephoto makes the scene much more dramitic than it really was. In the picture it doesn't look like you are 200 yards from the train nor does it look like 100 yards between the tresspasser and the train. Telephoto does make for dramitic photos tresspassers or not. Thanks for sharing.

David nice shot! Makes you wonder dose this person have a clue on what would happen if that train dose not stop! The question I have is what was crew thinking and if they were on the radio calling NS police.

About 1 month ago, a man was almost hit by a Union Pacific SD70ACe behined my house. But he also steped off the tracks before getting hit.

Derek Stewart, I was there too, it is not like we let this happen. The guy walked by us asked us what we were doing, we said shooting trains and there is one coming right now. Now as I see it, we did our part. He continued to walk, train came into view and still he paid no attention. Just because he put himself in the path of trouble doesn't mean I am going to get my self in trouble just to stop him. I know better, so should he.

Excellent shot David! Perhaps if more people photographed such lunacy as this and posted them publicly as you have these people might slowly come to realize they're not showing courage, just demonstrating their idiocy. Actions like this are likely very unsettling to the crew, perhaps even seriously affecting some of them.

I'm pretty sure an action like that indicates a suicide attempt. Perhaps he changed his mind at the last second.
