SD40-2 4003 is one of UP's ex-MP "coal service" locomotives, which came equipped with dynamic brakes, Rio Grande-style nose-mounted twin white Gyralites and the odd horn placement. Note that the dynamic brake grids have been sealed up, meaning that feature was subsequently removed.
