As modified, Canadian Pacific's RDC-5s looked, externally, very much like the RDC-2s from which they were built, they just had seating added to the baggage section. So, I assume the major modifications done to VIA 6148, were accomplished by VIA at the old Canadian National Point St. Charles shops in Montreal. This facility did almost impossible-to-detect conversions to CN RDCs, making RDC1s from RDC2s and RDC3s, and, in at least one instance, an RDC2 from an RDC3. The two missing windows on 6148, one at the far end, next to the VIA logo, and the second window at the near end, indicate that 6148 might be equipped with a snack bar. One holdover detail from its RDC2 past, is the rain gutter that begins at the cab, and extends over the first side window, which is where the baggage door used to be.
